That is why we’re sharing pediatric nephrology education videos for providers beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics. In the following videos, our providers will discuss groundbreaking nephrology research, diagnosis, treatment and more.

Impact of Acute Kidney injury and Nephrotoxic Exposure on Hospital Length of Stay

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common occurrence among hospitalized children and leads to increased mortality and prolonged length of stay (LOS) in critically ill patients. Few studies have examined the impact of AKI on LOS for common pediatric conditions.

In this video, pediatric infectious disease specialist Justin Searns, MD, pediatric cardiac intensivist Katja Gist, DO, and pediatric nephrologist Danielle Soranno, MD, review their research findings associating AKI with longer hospital length of stay and increased nephrotoxic medication exposure.
