Before you visit Children's Hospital Colorado, you may have questions about what you can expect. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about our program.

What is a pediatric and adolescent gynecologist?

A pediatric and adolescent gynecologist is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who has special training in taking care of the reproductive health system of girls from birth until they are young women.

Please see a list of the conditions we treat or call us for more information about treating a specific condition.

What should I expect at my daughter’s visit?

Our team is specially trained to put you and your daughter at ease. We will always start the visit by talking to you and your daughter. We will always get permission from you and your daughter before we do any kind of exam.

Just like when you see your regular pediatric or primary care provider, sometimes we may need to look at the outside of the genitals. There is no need to do an internal exam (a pelvic exam) in young girls, preteens or teens who would be uncomfortable with that type of exam. If needed, we can do an ultrasound to get more information about the systems inside the body.

How do I make my first appointment?

Please call the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology to set up an appointment. We can be reached at 720-777-2667.

Do you see patients who live outside the Denver-metro area?

Yes. We see patients from all parts of Colorado, Wyoming and other western and mid-western states.
