Children's Hospital Colorado

We are leaders collaborating to solve the most challenging questions in child health. Our cross-campus team of investigators, faculty members, providers, research teams and supporting staff is committed to elevating research to improve clinical care across the lifespan. These specialized studies and bold breakthroughs continuously earn us a spot ranked among the best children’s hospitals in the country and rank the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics among the top 10 best pediatric research programs in the country.

Cross-campus collaborations

Children's Hospital Colorado, in affiliation with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, has been a national center for pediatric research for more than 50 years. Our partnership with the CU School of Medicine means that our doctors are not only expert clinicians, but also active researchers working toward better ways to care for kids. Plus, the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus laboratories provide close physical proximity that allow Children's Colorado physicians to collaborate with their academic colleagues and transfer scientific discoveries into practice more quickly. With expertise from pediatrics to geriatrics and everything in between, our doctors are uniquely positioned to advance research across the lifespan so children can live long, healthy lives into adulthood.

Comprehensive research operations

With research as a pillar of Children’s Colorado’s mission to make the world a safer and healthier place for kids, we prioritize the impact and effectiveness of the hundreds of clinical trials and child health research studies happening across the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Beyond shared space for collaboration, our team members are supported by unique organizational partnerships facilitating industry-leading research that’s dynamic and forward-thinking.

The Colorado Child Health Research Institute

The Colorado Child Health Research Institute (CCHRI) is the administrative and operational home of child health research at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Having a robust infrastructure made up of eight business units with more than 200 team members and consolidated resources allows our investigators to spend more time focused on science.

Chief Scientific Officer Ronald Sokol, MD, is a distinguished professor of pediatric gastroenterology at CU Anschutz with a decades-long career of treating kids at Children’s Colorado and researching infant and childhood liver diseases. Vice President of Research Operations Jenae Neiman, RN, BSN, MBA, brings both her clinical background as an oncology nurse and over two decades of strategic and operational experience to advancing research support.

Clinical Translational Research Center

The Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) at Children’s Colorado provides infrastructure, resources and dedicated space to conduct clinical research as part of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI). CTRC research nurses support clinical research visits for Children’s Colorado. The CCTSI and CCHRI work together in a coordinated effort to complement each other with research resources offered to the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
