Children's Hospital Colorado has long been on the forefront of medical research, establishing a Research Foundation in 1953. And because Children’s campus is affiliated with, and adjacent to, the University of Colorado School of Medicine, together we have become the center of medical research in the Rocky Mountain region.
Children's Hospital Colorado and our affiliates at the University are responsible for virtually all of the pediatric research published in the Rocky Mountain region in the past decade, as well as several internationally recognized medical milestones, including the discovery of toxic shock syndrome (TSS) and development of new pediatric heart surgery techniques now used around the world.
Children’s affiliation with the University of Colorado School of Medicine means that our doctors are not only expert clinicians, but also active researchers working toward better ways to care for kids. Plus, the Anschutz Medical Campus laboratories provide close physical proximity that allows Children’s physicians to collaborate with their academic colleagues and transfer scientific discoveries into practice more quickly.
In short, your child receives world-class care at Children's Hospital Colorado because our doctors, nurses and clinical staff are also researchers at the top of their fields.
