An article published this spring reported that between 2008 and 2018, there was a 2.5-fold increase in suicide rates among 13- and 14-year-old youth in the United States across categories of gender, race and region. There are many factors that contribute to the startling suicide rates, including the instability we experienced after this study ended when the pandemic disrupted our lives.
