Break the Stigma of Mental Health

It’s not always easy to tell others that your child has challenges managing their thoughts or feelings. And it might not be easy for your child to express that either. Even though it's normal for people of any age to experience these challenges, our culture has told us we need to fear them.

How can we help each other with mental health?

In this video, we ask where the stigma originated and what we can all do to support each other to get help.

Join us in breaking the stigma of mental health by sharing this video with your friends and family. For additional tips on how you can help to fight stigma, visit Let’s Talk Colorado.

Brenda Gaughan, mother of a patient at Children's Hospital Colorado's Mental Health department.

“We’re not embarrassed that Claire has mental health issues. We understand that it’s like having a medical issue; we certainly wouldn’t make fun of a child who has diabetes, an amputated leg, or a bald head because they have cancer.”
– Brenda Gaughan, Claire’s mom
