The New Graduate Nurse Residency Program at Children’s Colorado is your entry point into a meaningful career at a top-ranked pediatric hospital. Through this year-long program, our team of expert nurses provides innovative training and support that prepares you to embark on a successful career in pediatric nursing.

Why start your nursing career at Children’s Colorado

The mission of the New Grad Nurse Residency Program is to provide evidence-based support and education for pediatric nurses in their first year of transition to professional practice. We provide the tools, resources and mentorship that residents need to develop as confident, competent and skilled pediatric nurses and interprofessional team members.

Our program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Residents are full-time team members who receive the same comprehensive benefits that are available to all new employees and enjoy the same opportunities for growth and professional development.

Program features include:

  • Classroom instruction focused on clinical reasoning, leadership and professional development, evidence-based practice, quality and safety, resiliency and wellness.
  • Clinical instruction, including experiential learning through code simulations, nursing skills education and proper use of equipment.
  • Development of evidence-based projects that impact organizational outcomes.
  • Promotion of diversity, health equity, inclusion and family-centered care in program curriculum and policies.
  • Guidance and support with a caring, evidence-based preceptor.
  • Mentorship to foster professional growth and clinical advancement.

Other requirements include:

  • Candidates must have graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months of a cohort start date. Some exceptions may be made for unique circumstances. See FAQs for more information.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing NCLEX and obtaining a Colorado or multistate compact registered nurse license and pre-employment requirements.

Our application process

The application process consists of two steps. To be considered, you must have both steps completed by 11:59 p.m. MST on the last day of the application period.

During the application window, there will be links at the top of this page where you can start your online application. There will be separate links for our Denver metro locations and our Colorado Springs hospital.

Please attach cover letter and resume (in that order) as a single document when uploading to the application (this document can be uploaded into the "resume" section of the application. You do not need to add any documents in the "cover letter" section). Title the uploaded document as "First Name Last Name Application.”

Please confirm all parts of the application are complete before submission.  After submission, you will not receive a confirmation email, but the status will show as "submitted."

Note: If you are applying to both the Anschutz campus and the Colorado Springs campus, you will need to apply to both New Graduate RN job openings.

After you have applied online, our talent acquisition team will send you an email with the link to an online questionnaire. It consists of basic applicant information (contact information, application requirements, etc.), an opportunity to select your preferred units and short response questions.

The questionnaire is also linked in the job posting and can be completed right after your application is submitted. This questionnaire only needs to be completed once.

Check your junk/spam folder if you don’t see the email with the link to the questionnaire by the application deadline. If you still do not see the link, please email NurseResidencyProgram@childrenscolorado.org. Please respond to the questionnaire within 72 hours from when it is received.
