Palliative Care at Children's Hospital Colorado

If you have a seriously ill child or a child living with a chronic or progressive disease, our goal is to help you make the most of your journey. We do this by working with your family to find out what is most important to you.

Our Palliative Care Team, called the Reach Team, will talk with you and your child to answer important questions like:

  • What makes you happy?
  • What makes your child laugh out loud?
  • What goals have you and your child set, and how can we help you reach them?
  • What is most important to you for your child's quality of life?

What is palliative care?

Palliative care is designed to ease the symptoms, pain and stress of serious illness for your child and family. The Reach Team also works to create positive experiences and celebrate moments of joy for you and your child during this difficult time.

The Reach Team will work to:

  • Ease pain and other symptoms of illness
  • Give emotional and social support
  • Help your child’s doctors work together to support your goals of care

We work with child life specialiststhe spiritual care teamsocial workers, creative arts therapists and many others throughout the hospital to make sure you and your child receive the specialty care you need. Simply put, we support you and your child.

We also know how much better it is for your child to spend the night in their own bed at home. We do all we can to lessen the amount of time spent in the hospital by connecting you with community resources that can support you and your family.
