About the Colorado Fetal Care Center
Pioneering treatments to save lives and lifetimes.
Keeping patients safe is our top priority. We're delivering thoughtful, high-quality care for kids who need it: both in person and through telehealth.
At the Colorado Fetal Care Center, our fetal care team includes all the specialists that you might need to manage a high-risk pregnancy — before, during and after delivery. Here, you will meet a wealth of specialists who have undergone extensive training in fetal, pediatric and obstetric care to provide all the care you and your baby need, all under one roof.
Our multidisciplinary model of care allows you to meet with all our fetal specialists, and specialists from other areas as necessary, in one appointment and in one place. This ensures our caregivers are providing the best, most coordinated evaluation, counseling and care while saving you time. You will also see many of the same providers throughout the course of your care so they know everything necessary about you and your family. Whether you’re local to the Denver metro area or traveling from out of town, you will feel at home with our fetal specialists.
Our fetal surgeons are specialists in maternal fetal medicine and pediatric surgery. Their expertise includes fetal surgery, newborn surgery and extensive experience treating conditions that are diagnosed during pregnancy. We have one of the most experienced fetal surgery teams in the nation and regularly participate in maternal fetal medicine research to help pioneer new treatments to improve care for our patients.
Maternal fetal medicine specialists
These maternal fetal specialists and fetal surgeons undergo years of additional training related to the care of both mom and baby during high-risk pregnancies. They have extensive training in diagnosing and treating conditions that occur before birth. These fetal doctors will be a primary point of contact for you and help coordinate your care plan from diagnosis through delivery and ongoing care.
Pediatric, fetal and obstetrical anesthesiologists
These anesthesiologists are doctors who specialize in pain management, maternal and fetal safety and other techniques to make fetal surgery and birth as safe, comfortable and stress-free as possible for both moms and their babies. They are essential in ensuring safe and successful surgery for mother and child and have specialized training in fetal surgery.
Obstetrical hospitalists and laborists
Our obstetricians are dedicated to caring for moms with high-risk pregnancies. These hospitalists and laborists are specialists in delivering babies requiring newborn intensive care and surgery. They are available 24/7 to make delivery as safe and comfortable as possible for moms delivering in our Center.
High-risk obstetrical nurses
Our nurses have extensive experience in and exclusively focus on taking care of moms expecting an infant in need of immediate intervention. When your baby has a prenatal diagnosis, you want a nursing team that specializes in caring for families just like yours.
Many of the families that deliver in our fetal care center will stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) after delivery for ongoing care. There, you will be cared for by neonatologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, lactation specialists, psychologists, therapists, technicians and other neonatal experts who specialize in caring for newborns with complex medical conditions. This team consistently ranks as one of the best NICUs in the country.
Radiologists are doctors who help diagnose and treat medical conditions through the use of medical imaging. Our fetal radiologists have vast training, education and experience specifically in fetal imaging so you and your family receive care based on the most accurate information available. They perform fetal imaging tests such as MRI, echocardiogram and ultrasound to uncover the specific details of your baby’s condition.
Labor and delivery nurses
Our labor and delivery nurses focus only on caring for moms and their babies during high-risk deliveries. That specific experience allows them to be the best at what they do, which is helping your baby come into this world as healthy as possible and for you to have the safest, most comfortable delivery possible.
Genetic counselors help our multidisciplinary team determine the chances for an underlying genetic syndrome in a pregnancy. They specialize in analyzing test results, helping families understand the meaning of a genetic test as well as the impact of an identified genetic syndrome.
Fetal and pediatric cardiologists
Our fetal care team works closely with our subspecialist pediatric cardiologists in the Heart Institute who care for babies with heart conditions before and after birth.
Because multidisciplinary care is essential to what we do, we work every day with our doctors, nurses and other staff with extensive training and experience in particular medical areas such as heart, breathing, neurology, orthopedics, urology and many others.
Our Colorado Fetal Care Center also has dedicated palliative care to support any baby with a life-threatening or life-limiting diagnosis. This team works to create positive experiences and celebrate moments of joy during a difficult time.
