Whether you live far away or it’s just more convenient to connect with us virtually, Children’s Hospital Colorado is here for you. If your child is experiencing confusing symptoms, you are considering treatment options for a known diagnosis or you just have questions about your child’s care, we can help. And our experts can provide guidance from the comfort of your home.

How do virtual second opinions work?
Children’s Colorado has partnered with 2nd.MD to provide your family with a seamless and convenient virtual second opinion process. Here’s what you can expect from our process:
- Once you submit the form above, a 2nd.MD team member will contact you within 24 business hours. They will explain our virtual second opinion process and answer your questions.
- You will be provided with a link to our secure payment portal and once payment is confirmed, your 2nd.MD nurse will call and collect your child's medical information. A virtual second opinion costs $750.
- 2nd.MD will collect your child’s medical records from your provider’s facilities or your patient portal.
- Based on your child’s condition or symptoms, we’ll select the best provider for your child’s second opinion and schedule a video consultation.
- Our expert will perform a video consultation with you and your child.
- After the consultation, our provider will send you a full consultation report.
- If you decide to seek in-person care we’ll help ensure a smooth transition of your care.
If our provider feels that your child’s condition isn’t suited for a virtual second opinion, they will contact your 2nd.MD nurse, who will work with our team to schedule an in-person second opinion or explore other care options.

A 2nd.MD team member will contact you within 24 business hours of submitting your second opinion request to explain the virtual second opinion process. The time it takes to get your second opinion depends on the complexity of your child’s condition, availability of our experts and how quickly we can get the necessary medical information. We work hard to get you a thorough second opinion as quickly as possible.
A virtual second opinion costs $750.
Every insurance plan is different, and we encourage you to contact your insurance provider to see if your plan covers or reimburses you for virtual second opinions.
Children’s Colorado and 2nd.MD respect your privacy rights and are committed to protecting your child’s personal information. All the health information you provide is kept encrypted and secure in the 2nd.MD portal. Information is never shared with third parties or the public. Your information is secured using encrypted web pages.
You will need an email address for communications and access to a computer for the video consultation.
There will not be an opportunity to speak with the specialist after the consultation so please have all questions ready at time of consultation.
