Quality and Patient Safety

On a wooded trail, a man in a red fleece and jeans chases after a blonde girl in an orange jacket and a boy in a gray and white shirt. They're all smiling. At the Orthopedics Institute, we work hard to see that your child has access to safe and effective treatments. This also helps us compare our care to pediatric hospitals across the country.

What do we measure?

  • Infection rates from spine surgeries are one example of the many things we measure in our efforts to monitor our own outcomes. See how our spine surgical site infection rates have improved.
  • We also measure satisfaction rates through a telephone survey about each child and family’s experience. See our patient satisfaction scores.
  • Over 70% of kids, teens and young adults who had a spinal fusion surgery for idiopathic scoliosis in Colorado in 2012, 2013 and 2014 came to Children’s Hospital Colorado. Learn more about our patient volumes.
