Pediatric orthopedic nurse practitioners

Pediatric orthopedic nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses who have additional education and training in orthopedics. Our pediatric orthopedic nurse practitioners often help children prepare and recover from surgery. They act as a liaison between the doctor and the family, and they typically serve as the family’s point of contact for information and education. Nurse practitioners perform examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications and therapy, and assist with surgeries.

Pediatric orthopedic neuropsychologists

Pediatric orthopedic neuropsychologists are licensed psychologists with doctoral degrees in psychology and extensive education in the specialty field of neuropsychology. Our neuropsychologists work with children who have experienced a traumatic brain injury or illness to better understand how it affects behavior and ability to learn. They use academic exercises and tests to identify a child’s strengths and weaknesses. Based on test results, they make a diagnosis and provide a treatment recommendation.

Pediatric orthopedic surgeons

Our pediatric orthopedic surgeons treat children with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries that require surgery, such as limb and spine deformities or broken bones. Learn more about our orthopedic surgery program.

Pediatric orthopedic physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians

Pediatric orthopedic physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians treat a variety of conditions that affect neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems, which includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons. They work collaboratively with other orthopedic specialists to help improve a child’s overall function and quality of life after a traumatic brain injury, illness and surgery.

Pediatric orthopedic and rehabilitation physicians

Our pediatric orthopedic physicians evaluate and treat injures and conditions related to the musculoskeletal system, such as bow leg, clubfoot, hip problems, scoliosis, sports-related injuries and much more.

Pediatric orthopedic physician assistants

Our orthopedic physician assistants have additional education and training in orthopedics, and they support our orthopedic pediatricians and surgeons. Physician assistants often help with surgery preparation and recovery, and they coordinate communication between the doctor and the family. They perform examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications and therapy, and assist with surgeries.

Pediatric orthopedic psychologists

Our pediatric orthopedic psychologists are licensed psychologists with doctoral degrees in psychology. They work with children and families to identify and cope with emotional issues related to tough diagnoses or outcomes, including a traumatic brain injury, illness and loss of limb or motor function.

Pediatric orthopedic sports medicine experts

The Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Colorado evaluates and treats young athletes of all ages and skill levels, including elite teen athletes on track to play professionally. Many of our pediatricians, surgeons and other team members are specifically trained in sports medicine. All of our providers are double board-certified in sports medicine and their primary area of medicine. Our sports medicine experts make recommendations and provide treatment options that are designed to help young athletes return to their sports both physically and emotionally tougher than they were prior to injury.

Pediatric sports dietitian

Our sports dietitian understands the unique needs of growing athletes and helps them perform their best. We provide customized dietary recommendations to help young athletes get faster and stronger, heal from injuries, have more energy, compete while living with a medical condition and more.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation experts

The Sports Medicine Physical Therapy program at Children’s Hospital Colorado provides sports injury physical therapy services for active children and young athletes. Our team of sports medicine physical therapists provide each athlete with a customized, at-home exercise program. They also offer both the athlete and their parents information about the important role physical therapy plays in making a safe and healthy return to sports.
